Schodack – Helen A. (Springer) Nolan, 101, passed away peacefully at home on June 13, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 11, 1920 she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Edna (Craig) Springer. Helen was married to the late Robert F. Nolan on April 13, 1941 for 41 years until his passing in 1982. She worked as a bank teller for more than 35 years at The Bank of New York in Valley Stream. Helen enjoyed reading, dancing, playing cards and was an accomplished quilter. Her secret to longevity was the occasional glass of Dewar’s. Helen is survived by her children, Robert F. (Lois) Nolan, Jr., Brian E. (Suzanne) Nolan and Denise (Charles) Mayrer; her grandchildren, Robert F. Nolan, III, Keith Nolan, Gregory (Darcy) Nolan, Matthew (Jamie) Nolan, Lisa (Rusty) Lavender, Charles (Alyssa) Mayrer, Jr., Sarah (Bryan) Carr and Katherine (Matthew) Wilcox. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren. Those wishing to remember Helen in a special way can make memorial contributions in her name to The American Cancer Society at cancer.org or Give Kids the World at gktw.org a charity near and dear to her heart that has served one of her great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Helen on Friday June 17th at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s at Clinton Heights, 163 Columbia Turnpike Rensselaer. Calling hours will be held on Thursday June 16th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at The Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Turnpike in Rensselaer. Helen will be laid to rest at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, NY beside her husband Robert on Saturday.
