Obituary of Theresa Kuziara Bunk

Watervliet - Theresa Kuziara Bunk, 93, passed away peacefully on Monday June 27, 2022 in the same home she was born in on April 3, 1929 surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Jacob and Katherine (Serafin) Kuziara. Theresa was a graduate of Immaculate Conception School Class of 1943 and Watervliet High School Classs of 1947. She would go on to work for New York State in various roles, but her most cherished position was as Executive Secretary to the Counsel to The Speaker of the House for the New York State Assembly for more than 35 years. It is here, where she also served on the naming committee for The Thaddeus Kosciuzko Bridge. Don't you dare call it "The Twin Bridges" in her presence. Theresa was extremely proud of her Polish heritage and bilingual abilities. In retirement, she served as a Polish translator for The United States Federal Court in Albany, served on The Polish American Congress as Secretary, Vice President and President and served as Recording Secretary for The Polish Community Center for more than 15 years before retiring at the age of 90. Throughout the years, Theresa helped countless families immigrate from Poland with translations and helping to file all of the correct documentation, an accomplishment she was very proud of. Theresa was a lover of animals, especially her favorite pups; Maxie, Memphis and Violet. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Theresa's special care takers; Barbara Donnelly, Gail Mantello and Heather Mantello. Theresa was predeceased by her brother, Theodore Kuziara; her sisters, Helen Kuziara Ginsburg, Leona Kuziara Hull and Veronica Kuziara Simmons; her nephew, Wayne Simmons; niece, Barbara Tessier and canine companion, Doxie Theresa is survived by her niece-in-law, Betty Jean Simmons; nephew and godson, Tom (Sue Reinfurt) Kuziara; great-nieces, Lindsay Simmons, Danielle Simmons and Megan (Christian) Davis; great-nephews, Frank (Danielle) Simmons and Theodore (Jen Richards) Kuziara; and great-great nephew, Zayne Simmons. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Theresa on Saturday July 2nd at 10:00 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 2416 7th Ave. in Watervliet. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Colonie. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at Parker Bros.
