Please share a memory of Dale to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Green Island – Dale J. Alix, 73, passed away suddenly on July 1, 2023 while vacationing with his family. Born in Troy, he is the son of the late Warren and Virginia (Albert) Alix. Dale was a graduate of LaSalle Institute Class of 1967. He would go on to marry the love of his life Jill Leonard Alix on September 17, 1978 at St. Joseph’s Church in Green Island. During his working career Dale owned and operated Alix’s Tavern, bartended on Sunday’s at BeeCee’s, worked in the kitchen at the Albany County Correctional Facility and in retirement worked for his son Michael at Luizzi Companies. Dale was a sports fanatic, a baseball enthusiast, and a faithful fan of the San Francisco Giants. He was a member of the District 14 - 1960 Little League Championship Team, with his dear friend Joe DiFabio, and a beloved coach for the Green Island Little League. For many years Dale coached varsity baseball for Heatly School, and was a 20 year member at Van Schaick Country Club in Cohoes. Dale was most proud of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed any time spent with family and friends, especially vacations with the Karwiel’s to Wildwood, NJ and Sunday dinners. The memories made will forever be held by those fortunate enough to take part in a Alix family vacation or a Sunday Funday. Dale was a father figure to many and affectionately known as “Pop”, to not only his grandchildren but their friends and family. He was and will always be his grandchildren’s biggest fan. He rarely missed a game, was a staple in the crowd, and continuously beamed with pride. Dale is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jill Alix; his children, Abby (Tanya) Alix-Hansen, Maggie Alix, Michael (Amy) Alix and Daniel (Christina) Alix; his cherished grandchildren, Jordan, Maddisyn, Mack, Taylor, Tucker and Claire. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and dear friends. In addition to his parents, Dale was predeceased by his brother, Douglas Alix.
